Regional Performance Information

The North Team:

· National Pathway Coach – Richard Plews
o Responsible for National Age Groups Player in the Region – 10-14years old and for leading on the Regional Training Programme
· Regional Pathway Coach – Chris Peet
o Responsible for the running of the Regional Training and Match Programme and to support the Coaches/Players in the Local/Regional Player Development Centre (Bolton)
· Lead County Pathway Co-ordinator – Andrew Wilkinson
o Responsible for support to Counties (Cheshire, Lancashire, Cumbria) and to support the Coaches/Players in the Local Player Development Centres (Wigan, Widnes, Manchester)
· County Pathway Co-ordinator –John Loughton
o Responsible for support to Counties (Yorkshire, Durham & Cleveland, Northumberland) and to support the Coaches/Players in the Local Player Development Centres (Ilkley, Thongsbridge, Graves/Sheffield, Nuffield/Hull, Northumberland Academy)

Regional Player Development Centre:

· The Region currently has a centre based at Bolton, this centre’s aim is to provide quality coaching to players of Regional Training Standard (and above) from the ages of 10-14

Local Player Development Centre:

· The Region has nine of these centres, the aim of these centres is to provide quality coaching to players between the ages of 7-10 so as to maximise the number of players who will be invited onto the Regional Training Programme and onto the County Training Programme.

Regional Training Programme:

· Players can be invited onto the Regional Training Programme (which can be found on the LTA website) and they will then be invited to attend Weekly Regional Training at either:
o North East – John Charles Centre for Sport Leeds – Thursday 3-8pm
o North West – Bolton Arena – Friday 4-8pm
· There are currently 34 Players on the programme with 14 Players from Yorkshire
· There will also be a series of Inter Regional Matches in the Under 14 and 12 age groups against other Regions:
o East
o South East
o South West
o Midlands
o Wales
o Scotland,
· All matches will incorporate singles and doubles

County Training Programme:

· Each County will run County Training Sessions:
o Under 18,14,12, 10, 9, 8
o Minimum 10 sessions per year
· In Yorkshire Venues are:
o John Charles Centre for Sport
o Nuffield Hull
o Graves/Sheffield
o Thongsbridge

The team above has a number of objectives and work together in their different areas along the Player Pathway One of the ultimate objectives is to ensure a supply line of players who will meet the criteria for selection to a National Academy

National Academy’s:

· There are two centres:
o Loughborough
o Stirling
· Ages 14-16
