We were all excited to hear the Government’s announcement earlier this year on their plan to end the lockdown, as this has now paved the way for tennis clubs to re-open, allowing members to participate in social and competitive tennis.
As such, we have had a good response from clubs wishing to participate in the Yorkshire Doubles League this year, which will take place over a four-to-five month period between 15th May – 30th September 2021. This year, fifteen women’s teams will be taking part across two divisions; and there will be twelve men’s teams, again, across two divisions. A number of our regular participants, however, have made the decision to wait until 2022 before they play again in the League, primarily due to the uncertainty of Covid restrictions.
As in the past, all results are uploaded online, allowing teams to keep up to date with the league tables on a regular basis!
As many of you will know, the Yorkshire Doubles League offers your members an opportunity to enjoy competitive tennis and meet team players from a variety of clubs throughout the region.
As a committee, we are here to facilitate the Yorkshire Doubles League, but would very much like your thoughts and ideas as to how to proceed in 2022. We do appreciate that this year some clubs have been keen to start up competitive tennis, but others are reluctant and would prefer to wait and see how changes in Covid restrictions will affect competitive tennis.
