Launch of the 2021 LTA Tennis Awards
Over the last three years, Yorkshire Tennis has had six runners-up and four national winners of the LTA Tennis Awards. Our two most recent winners were both from the same club – Don Saul won Volunteer of the Year, and Alice Robson won Development Coach of the Year – both for their work at Ackworth Tennis Club.
It is now time to celebrate our achievements in 2020 – a year in which tennis has had a different profile to that which we expected at the start of the year. The challenges caused by COVID-19 are reflected in the criteria for this year’s awards (see attached).
The nominations period is tight this year – 1st October to 15th November – so please don’t delay in making your entries.
There are 12 categories for public nominations –
Lifetime Achievement Award
Volunteer of the Year
Young Person of the Year
Development Coach of the Year
Performance Coach of the Year
Official of the Year
Club of the Year
Communities and Parks Award
Education Award – Schools / School Sports Network
Education Award – University
Competition of the Year
Online nominations can be made by visiting – www.lta.org.uk/awards
It is likely that we will be having a virtual ceremony in either January or February 2021 to announce our Yorkshire winners given current Government guidance so watch out for our announcement.
Please consider nominating a member of your club, your club itself, an organisation that your club is linked to, or a competition or official that you believe has excelled in the calendar year of 2020. There is also a Lifetime Achievement Award for a volunteer who has committed many years to tennis and given a lifetime of dedication to the sport.
Thank you in advance for your support.
