NIC Yorkshire Tennis County Championships

Friends, rivals and doubles partners Jordan Reed-Thomas and Scott Hillerby contested the outstanding match at this year’s NIC Yorkshire Tennis County Championships. Jordan took the men’s singles title from Scott – winner in 2024 – before the pair then teamed up to take the men’s doubles crown.

Joining them as multiple-winners at the championships were Emmanuella Idemudia, Roberta Gaskill, Sabeehah Khan, Hugo Asmussen and Isabella Egglestone.

Emmanuella took the 12&U girls singles title, backing up wins at the 2024 championships, before teaming up with partner Natalia McSherry to take the 12&U girls doubles title.

Runner up in the girls 14&U singles, Emmanuella lost out to winner Roberta Gaskell, who also claimed multiple titles at this year’s championships. Her trophy haul included the 14&U mixed doubles title alongside Neo Hodkinson and the women’s doubles title with partner Sabeehah Khan, who also won the 18&U girls trophy.

Niamh Sutherland took the women’s title, with other first-time girls’ singles winners included Sabeehah Khan (18&U), Amelia Branska (16&U). Isabella Egglestone took the title in the 11&U girls, while Ella-Grace Chan came out on top in  the 10&U girls.

Boys’ winners were Sebastian Wraith-Lobley (16&U), Ben Winterbottom (14&U), Harrison McHugh (12&U) and Hugo Asmussen at (10&U).

Tournament referee Dave Kitchen deserves huge congratulations for organising an outstanding championship, which featured 424 entries across all age categories.
