Launch of the 2022 LTA Tennis Awards
Over the last four years, Yorkshire Tennis has had eight runners-up and six national winners at the LTA Tennis Awards, as well as numerous Regional Awards. We have become quite good at writing award winning entries, but without the nominations highlighting the inspirational work of Yorkshire volunteers, we have nothing to write about.
Last year we had our first national Young Person winner with Reuben Newman-Billington, and Leeds Community Tennis Programme weighed in with the Communities and Parks Award.
Nominations open today for those achievements in 2021, which we hope will ultimately lead to further national recognition for Yorkshire at the Award Presentation at Wimbledon on 1st July 2022.
The nominations period is tight this year – 1st October to 15th November. The Yorkshire Tennis AGM and Awards Evening is on the 6th December 2021 so we may have to close our entry early this year so please don’t hesitate to get your nominations in as quickly as possible.
There are 13 categories for public nominations –
Lifetime Achievement Award
Volunteer of the Year
Young Person of the Year
Development Coach of the Year
Performance Coach of the Year
Official of the Year
Club of the Year
Communities and Parks Award
School of the Year
University of the Year
Competition of the Year
Online nominations can be made by visiting – https://www.lta.org.uk/about-us/what-we-do/lta-tennis-awards/
Please consider nominating a member of your club, your club itself, an organisation that your club is linked to, or a competition or official that you believe has excelled in the calendar year of 2021. There is also a Lifetime Achievement Award for a volunteer who has committed many years to tennis and given a lifetime of dedication to the sport.
Thank you in advance for your support.
Adrian Waite, LTA Councillor for Yorkshire
