We are hosting a 9 and Under Player Plus Tournament at Leeds Beckett’s University Tennis Centre Headingley Campus on December 22nd 10:00 – 14:00
This is open to all players born 2015 or later and will be played with an orange ball. This is a mixed event for both boys and girls. It will be classified as a grade 6 event so the results will go on each players profile but will not count for ranking points because a coach will be on court with them.
This event is aimed at players competing in grade 3 competitions and above. Players results in grade 3 competitions as well as rankings will be used to determine acceptance in to the competition. The tournament organiser reserves the right to reward 2 wild card entries. The top 2 seeded players will automatically go into to the first round of the main draw, the remaining 20 players will compete for 14 places in the main draw. Each player will have a minimum of 4 matches*
For those of you who are unfamiliar with the format of a player plus tournament, the coach of the player is permitted to sit court-side with their player for the duration of the match and coach/give advice at the changes of ends to help their player. They do not get involved in making line calls unless you feel your player has made an error and in line with good sportsmanship you would overrule the call. At this age it is also perfectly acceptable to keep them on track with scoring. If their behaviour becomes unacceptable, just like in a tournament, a coach or with the agreement of both coaches, the player should receive the appropriate warning.
Player plus events are fantastic opportunities for coaches to learn about their players and actually get to work with them when they are pushed outside their comfort zone. Due to the nature of the event and that we will running it on a minimum of 4 courts, each coach may enter only one player in this event.
