Yorkshire Tennis has announced its 2021 county winners in the LTA Tennis Awards. The winners of the 12 categories will now go forward for judging in the LTA North Region Awards.
The winners are:-
Club of the Year – Roundhay LTC;
Development Coach of the Year – Sean Evans from Pocklington Tennis Club;
Performance Coach of the Year – Tom Loughton from Leeds RPDC;
Volunteer of the Year – Carol Tetlow from Ripon Tennis Centre;
Young Person of the Year – Alfie Motson from Wheatley Hills LTC;
Lifetime Achievement Award – Wendy Hurworth;
Communities & Parks Award – Sunnah Sports Academy Trust, Bradford;
Disability Award – Wigginton Tennis Club;
School of the Year – St Mary’s School, Hull;
University of the Year – University of Sheffield;
Official of the Year – Luke Smith;
Competition of the Year – Huddersfield Open;
Highly Commended Awards were also made in the following categories
Volunteer of the Year – Peter Thornton from Northowram Tennis Club;
Communities & Parks Award – BEAP Community Partnership;
Official of the Year – Stephen Plant;
Yorkshire Tennis is planning to hold a formal ceremony in the Spring (subject to any Government restrictions) to honour not just this year’s winners but last year’s winners as well.
