2024 Yorkshire Tennis Awards

Celebrating the best in Yorkshire Tennis at the Yorkshire Tennis Awards Evening – Thursday 29th February 2024 at Thorpe Park Hotel and Spa

130 Award Winners and Guests enjoyed an exceptional evening combining a lovely social gathering with the presentation of the awards.

The evening started with a hot buffet and everyone had an opportunity to have a chat and catch up with players and families from across the county. The awards were presented by Geoff Newton OBE, outgoing Yorkshire Tennis President, who started with the LTA Awards and finished with the Yorkshire Tennis President’s Award. This final Award was presented to the 2023 Men’s and Ladies’ Winter County Cup Teams that won Division 1 of the LTA Winter County Cup. The men last won the title in 1992 and the ladies in 2010 but this is the first time ever they’ve won the titles in the same year. The star of the evening was undoubtedly Molly Robinson who walked away with a large collection of trophies including 4 Yorkshire County Championship Singles trophies, Headingley Trophy for best performance at Ladies’ Winter County Cup, YLTA Trophy for the Most Improved Player – Girls, Ladies’ County Colours and the Yorkshire Tennis President’s Award. The evening ended with Yorkshire Tennis Chairman, Steve Jones, thanking Geoff for all his work with Yorkshire Tennis and welcomed new President, Karen Mitchell, who has a formidable record as a Yorkshire County tennis player and won the LTA Meritorious Service Award in 2020 for her voluntary work over many years including being Chair of Training and Performance Committee.

More details about the evening will be published later this year in Tramlines.
