LTA National Tennis Awards – Yorkshire Winners

Last week saw the LTA National Award winners collect their awards from the National Tennis Centre. Our very own Sam Salt (Performance Coach of the Year) and Leeds Beckett University were amongst the winners. A very big congratulations to both, we are very proud of your achievements and grateful for the work you do in our County.

Our University of the Year continues to be one of the most highly regarded tennis Universities in the country and is a multiple winner of our County award.

It has over 150 students involved in either performance, development, or recreational tennis.

In British Universities & Colleges Sport, the tennis team is the highest performing team at this University for the 8th year in a row.

Five current students played in the Yorkshire Winter County Cup Teams that won the Division One county titles in 2023.

The University has the most extensive workforce development programme in the UK – 52 current coaches around Yorkshire are ex-students and 16 out of 20 clubs in Leeds have a head coach that attended the University.

Our Performance Coach of the Year established the NEXGEN Tennis Academy at Graves Health & Sports Centre in 2023 and it has quickly become established as one of the leading 10&U performance programmes in the country.

It has around 50 performance players including three players ranked very highly for their age group in the UK.

Based upon the results of the players he coaches; our Winner is currently the leading 10&U coach in the UK.

He continues to focus on his own development and is currently on the Level 5 Performance Coaching Pro course.
