The past 12 months have been a struggle for most. Here at Ilkley not only have we had to adapt to the challenges faced by Covid-19 but have had a record 4 floods in the space of a year.
Although the flooding is a nightmare to deal with, the team at Ilkley have become accustom to it and see it as a team building exercise rather than a chore.
Lockdown 1.0, 2.0 and now 3.0 has seen the coaches challenge their thinking. Lessons have been adapted for video link and although the players and myself never want to hear the word ‘zoom’ again it has been a great recourse that has enabled the team to connect with the players, continuing their learning and enabling them to interact with their peers. Hopefully life will start to get back to normal in the coming months and we can all look back on the pandemic as a time in our lives that we, as self-employed coaches, made the most out of and changed us for the better.
Until that time, I hope everyone stays sane. See you on the other side!
