Last Saturday saw the second Legends and Phoenix Cups take place. It’s the event for players over 59 and is run by GB Seniors.
The success of last year’s event at the Padel Hub in Slough inspired the GB Seniors to run a second event in Yorkshire.
Pokita www.pokita.com, the eco conscious active wear organisation, sponsored the event with some lovely clothing. 22 couples nationwide came together for a full compass draw.
The Legends Cups (059) were won by Kath Baker, Sarah Gorman, Jonathan Sowden of Rawdon Padel Club and Peter Andrews of Blackpool.
The Phoenix Cups (065) were won by Brian Barrowman, Andrew Mears, Rosie Connell of Chapel Allerton and Louise Dalglish of Gloucester. Rosie and Louise have dominated this cup winning it both years.
We were delighted to welcome Annie Wodhams and Diane Caulcott from Essex again whose combined age is 168 – never mind the 100+ – is this a padel record? They were awesome.
Rosie Connell commented:
“This was the friendliest tournament I’ve ever played in. Everyone playing hard but most important supporting each other.”
Thanks to GB Seniors for organising.
