After many years of service to Yorkshire Tennis, our Vice Chair Chris Day has stepped down from his director role. The team at Yorkshire Tennis has extended its thanks to Chris for his outstanding voluntary work for the county and wishes him well for the future.
Chris has been involved in tennis from a young age and was chairman of Barnsley Tennis Club for over 20 years, during which he led the expansion and transformation of its facilities. He has held a number of positions, serving as a member of the management committee and President of Yorkshire Tennis, and as director and interim chair of Yorkshire Tennis Ltd in 2025.
Chris has also chaired the Initiative Committee which involves raising income from sponsors and patrons who contribute so much to Yorkshire Tennis activities, helping to grow participation, junior development and grass roots tennis.
As a keen tennis player Chris won the Yorkshire 55&O seniors singles title and has represented Yorkshire’s Seniors County teams at 55&O and 60&O. In 2022 Chris was awarded the prestigious LTA Meritorious Service Award for his contribution to tennis.
