The continuing success of the Associate Membership Scheme…

Since the beginning of Advantage Yorkshire in 2017 the Associate Membership scheme has been going from strength to strength with more and more coaches getting involved.

The Associate Membership scheme allows schools and coaches to apply for a years Yorkshire Tennis Membership for £10, in return the school receives a £100 coaching voucher to use with a local coach/club. The idea behind the scheme is to try and make it easier for coaches to build links with schools and get more children playing tennis whether at the school or the local Tennis Club.

Since 2017 we have had over 120 schools apply to the scheme and we have been hearing great things from the coaches. Here are a few quotes from local coaches on how the Associate Membership scheme has helped them:

Jake Prime – Doncaster

“The Yorkshire Tennis Associate Membership Scheme has been a great success for Doncaster Lawn Tennis Club. It gave us the opportunity to visit 10 different schools in the local area and give taster sessions to over a 1000 children. From this we have seen an increase in players attending our junior coaching sessions and summer camps. I would definitely recommend any other club to look into the scheme.”

Ben Howarth – Sheffield

“The Yorkshire Tennis Associate Membership Scheme has been really useful in building links with local schools and getting lots of children active and playing tennis.
The scheme was simple to join for headteachers and made it easy for me the coach to offer sessions at the schools I attended.
The £100 vouchers could be used in lots of ways like curriculum school coaching, sports weeks and tennis festivals at the club.
My biggest success was building links with 4 learning disability schools in Sheffield.
I was able to offer the schools 4 hours of tennis at the venue then I ran a schools disability tennis festival where they were able to visit Brentwood Tennis Club, and take part in a tennis festival where they were active had fun and met a socialised with the other kids.
This is the 2nd year I have been using the scheme and my community programme is growing and I am building and maintaining good links with old and new groups.
Thank you so much for setting up this scheme and I hope it continues in the future.”

Jonathan Saddler

“I’ve set up an all-year-round coaching programme at Richmond School & Sixth Form College [sportshall + 4 x outdoor floodlit], to start beginning of September, for kids & adults.Great news, as it will mean an all-year-round programme in that area for the first time, ever.”
